4. Airborne particulates and allergens

Cooling Is Not the Same as Ventilation
This is the single most important point for any business to understand. A standard air conditioning unit controls temperature by recirculating and cooling indoor air. Ventilation, by contrast, replaces stale indoor air with fresh, filtered air from outside — removing CO₂, odours, moisture and pollutants in the process.
The two work best together. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) is particularly effective: it brings in fresh air while recovering heat (or cooling) from the air it expels, so you improve air quality without throwing money out of the vent. What the Regulations Expect

Part F of the Building Regulations sets minimum ventilation standards for occupied buildings, while the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 require employers to provide an adequate supply of fresh or purified air in enclosed workplaces.
